Description of museum

The Museum was founded in 1988 and possesses materials on the history of the settlement and the region. The theme of repression and the Gulag is represented in part of the permanent exhibition, which opened in 1990.

The exhibition (the section ‘SibLag’) displays biographical documents, photographs and materials from the personal archives of inhabitants of Izhmorskii region, former exiles and special settlers.

Materials are being collected since the early 1990s. The collection currently consists of around fifty items: personal documents and photographs. The museum does not collect objects. Museum staff are recording oral testimonies of former special settlers (there are currently twelve such records). Materials are kept in a general collection, grouped into personal files of inhabitants of the Izhmorskii region, former prisoners and special settlers.
