Detailed annotationA letter from the assistant director of the Administration of the UkhtPechLag, G.P. Zakar’ian (he is also Director of the 3rd Section) dated 24.11.1934 and addressed to the director of Industry No.2, N.F. Butenin. It is a document accompanying a sum of money (86 Roubles), sent to be handed over to prisoner Nikolai Kuz’mich Gurkin. This money had previously been confiscated from Gurkin, but the reason for the return of the money was the shock-work done by Gurkin. It is impossible to determine from the content of the document either the reason for the confiscation of the money, or the way in which the prisoner would get it back (a money transfer, an illegal handover via a non-prisoner, as earnings or from some other source). Butenin gave the written instruction to some employee (name illegible): “vydaite pod raspisku” [“hand over the money and get a receipt for it”]. The document was transferred to the Museum from the archive of the “Progress” Factory, successor to the Radium Industry.
