An official memo from the assistant director of the Administrative and Finance Section and the Labour Section, N.V. Shnurkovskii, to the deputy director of OGPU Industry No.2 of the UkhtPechLag, D.G. Khomiakov, dated 21.09.1933. Stamped “Secret”. It contains a report about the urgent need to provide the prisoners with barracks, since the cold season had arrived and they were currently housed in leaking and unheated tents. The document is kept in the Museum of the History of Vodnyi. It was transferred from the archive of the “Progress” Electro-ceramic factory in Ukhta, the successor to the Radium Industry. Description of exhibitTypewritten, original, signature – autograph, Resolution – autograph, 1 page, Stamp: “Secret”. The Document is printed on one sheet of paper (blue typewriter-ribbon). The address section reads: “Zam. Nachalnika Promysla No 2 im. OGPU tov. Khomiakovu D.G.” [“To the Deputy Director of OGPU Industry No.2, Comrade D.G. Khomiakov”]. It is signed by the assistant director of the Administrative and Finance Section and the Labour Section of the Industry, N.V. Shnurkovskii (signature in blue ink). In the top left-hand corner is the Resolution written in pink-coloured pencil: “V delo. Na oktiabr’ priniat’ v plane okonchanie baraka na 250 chel. Bondarnuiu ispol’zovat’ pod zhil’e nel’sia. 26/IX 33 g.” [“To be added to the file. For October, plan the completion of a barrack for 250 people. The cooper’s workshop must not be used as accommodation 26.IX.33”] and the signature of D.G. Khomiakov.

Detailed annotationOfficial memo from the assistant director of the Administrative and Finance Section and the Labour Section, N.V. Shnurkovskii, to the deputy director of OGPU Industry No.2, D.G. Komiakov, dated 21.09.1933. It contains a report on the increase in ill-health amongst the prisoners, linked to the fact that they are housed in leaking and unheated tents, and on the urgent need to provide the prisoners with barracks. Shnurkovskii suggests re-equipping a coopers’ workshop as accommodation. Khomiakov’s resolution reads: “Na oktiabr’ priniat’ v plane okonchanie baraka na 250 chel. Bondarnuiu ispol’zovat’ pod zhil’e nel’sia. 26/IX 33 g.” [“For October, plan the completion of a barrack for 250 people. The cooper’s workshop must not be used as accommodation 26.IX.33”] The document was transferred to the Museum from the archive of the “Progress” Factory, successor to the Radium Industry.
