A portrait of Aleksandr Mikhailovich Romanenko (born 1896), drilling expert of Industry No.2 of the Ukhta-Pechora Camp, with his wife, Mariia, taken in 1933 in the Vodnyi Settlement. The photograph is kept in the Museum of the History of Vodnyi Settlement.

On the back of the photo is an inscription in ordinary pencil: “Aleksandr and Mariia Romanenko” and an inscription in purple ink: “1933 god. Pervyi nachal’nik Vodnogo promysla No 2”[“1933. The first head of Vodnyi Industry No.2”].

In 1933 Aleksandr Mikhailovich Romanenko was in the position of a colonized person) and worked in Industry No.2 of the Ukhta-Pechora Camp. It is not known if his wife had come to visit him or if she worked in Vodnyi Settlement as a civilian.
