The Local History School Museum "Stranitsy istorii Sosnogorskogo raiona v XX stoletii" ["Pages from the History of the Sosnogorsk District in the 20th century"] at the middle school No 3 of the town of Sosnogorsk (Komi Republic) was founded in 2002. The initiator was the history teacher V.N. Bublichenko, who conceived of the Museum as a project within the school’s history club "Regional'naia istoriia" ["Regional History"]. The collection of exhibits and material started in 1999 with local history excursions within Sosnogorsk Region (settlements of Vis, Kerki and Malaia Pera). The Museum occupies a separate hall. There are two main exhibitions on the topic of the Gulag: "Pamiati zhertv politicheskikh repressii Sosnogorskogo raiona" ["Remembering the Victims of Repression in the Sosnogorsk District"] and "Vot moia derevnia, vot moi dom rodnoi. Iz istorii naselennykh punktov Sosnogorskogo raiona" ["This is my Village, this is my Home. From the History of the Settlements of the Sosnogorsk District"]. They both opened on 1 September 2004. They exhibit biographical documents, photographs and items from private archives of residents of the Sosnogorsk District, copies of documents on the history of the SevZhelDorLag and the Pechora Camp, maps and items of everyday camp life. Description of museumThe Local History School Museum "Stranitsy istorii Sosnogorskogo raiona v XX stoletii" ["Pages from the History of the Sosnogorsk District in the 20th century"] at the middle school No 3 of the town of Sosnogorsk (Komi Republic) was founded in 2002. The initiator was the history teacher V.N. Bublichenko, who conceived of the Museum as a project within the school’s history club "Regional'naia istoriia" ["Regional History"]. The Museum occupies a separate hall in the school building (a hall formerly called ‘Hall to the Glory of Battle and Labour’). Part of the display is dedicated to political terror in the Soviet Union, another part to the participation of the inhabitants of Sosnogorsk in the Second World War. There are two main exhibitions on the topic of the Gulag: "Pamiati zhertv politicheskikh repressii Sosnogorskogo raiona" ["Remembering the Victims of Repression in the Sosnogorsk District"] and "Vot moia derevnia, vot moi dom rodnoi. Iz istorii naselennykh punktov Sosnogorskogo raiona" ["This is my Village, this is my Home. From the History of the Settlements of the Sosnogorsk District"]. They both opened on 1 September 2004. Some of the material was found through research, including in the archives of the Administration of Correction. At present the collection comprises about 100 items and documents. The Museum activities are directed by T.V. Tsareva and I.N. Volkova. A project of the senior pupil M. Egorov, on the fate of the special settler A.P. Kos'iakova, was presented at the 12th Russian Conference for School Pupils, "Otkrytie" ["Discovery"] in Yaroslavl in 2009. Subsequently, these materials were added to the Museum exhibition.

Acquisition and description of subject-related collections The collection of exhibits and material started in 1999 on the initiative of V.N.
